For the past week I’ve been deleting new accounts if they have been left blank and the owner hasn’t re-visited the site for a few days to read a message about blank profiles being unhelpful.
One or two blank profiles isn’t going to matter. A constant, small stream of blank profiles over time will cause a problem.
If the account is from a part of the world particularly badly represented on the site, we might just keep it.
A city with half of its profiles completely blank will wreck any chance of people messaging each other and buying membership of this site. This means there are no funds to pay for advertising when the opportunity arrives and keep this site running. A month ago a mainstream television channel approached us about advertising on their network. We declined. Their price was too high for us. Yet if just a fraction of the members here donated just $1 the money could be obtained. Having said that I suspect some of our members don’t watch mainstream television channels!
