Blank profiles ruin dating sites

There has been a spate of new accounts made here, where the owners do not upload photos, nor write anything about themselves.

When this site was younger, I did message people to ask them to fill in their descriptions. The reply was always there weren’t enough people in their city yet to bother doing anything.

I can understand there are concerns about leaving photos on the Internet, but with a little imagination people can do better than just _nothing_.

1. Upload photos of your city. Ideally include a hand-written date stamp in the frame to prove they are your photos.
2. Upload a photo of yourself and use image software to obscure some facial details.
3. Upload a photo of yourself wearing a hat and sunglasses.
4. Upload a photo of yourself taken from an oblique position.

Scammers lie about their location. This is why it is helpful for people to upload original photos of their city (ideally with a hand-written date stamp in the frame or a local newspaper).

All GPS location information is stripped from photos by the software on our website.

This website is not run by money-grabbing big business. Last year our site was 24x cheaper than others in our genre. Now we are just 12x cheaper because running this site is taking up more time and money. It is pity this operation cannot be a cooperative venture with people even doing the bare minimum, which does not even cost them any money.

Last week a man deleted his account here citing the fact in his country there were too many profiles which were blank. People leaving blank profiles here are wrecking this website for everyone. Writing a description should only take a couple of minutes. Everyone has smartphones with them. Taking a photo of your city and uploading it should be easy. Everyone has photo manipulation software on their phone. Obscuring part of your face should be a trivial task.

Fortunately the new map-based searching addition to our site has options to omit blank profiles from the search results.
