📣 Advertising Campaigns

Since September we have been advertising on Twitter. We have also advertised in Canadian, Dutch, British and Swedish news websites and printed newspapers.

The campaigns have been effective, but only in a limited sense. At the start of this year, we had just over 100 unique visitors each day. Now we have over 1500 unique visitors each day.

In the last few months, the number of members on our site has gone up from 2600 to just over 3300.

Now the bad news… We still have a certain fraction of people joining this site without describing themselves or uploading a photo of themselves. We have said many times people can instead use photos of trees, flowers, churches etc. Or they can use photos of themselves taken at obscure angles or wearing sunglasses to protect their privacy. It is very unlikely anyone will message another member with a completely blank profile. Additionally it will annoy members of this website as they will have to scroll through reams of empty profiles. Paying members have access to a private gallery and their photos are only shown to people they have approved first.

The most important feature of dating and meeting websites is having a large number of members. Otherwise you won’t find anyone local to meet. This is why advertising is important. Unfortunately advertising is expensive. The other piece of bad news is that only a small fraction of people here pay for a subscription. We have probably spent as much money as we can afford now on advertising. So it is up to you now! You can either pay for a subscription, donate money to us or print our adverts for local distribution on public noticeboards. Our adverts can be downloaded from https://unjabbed.net/topic/adverts/ . Unlike online advertising, if your advert results in someone joining our site, it is a guarantee they will be local to you. This method is far cheaper than online advertising.

Twitter does allow promoted Tweets (adverts) to be targetted to the users located in specific countries. (At the moment we cannot advertise in Russia or Japan on Twitter. We don’t know the reason why.) Contact us if you want to donate money for advertisements in a specific country.

Since we launched this website in April 2023, the limiting factor has been money for advertising. We have created accounts on major social media sites, but that only goes so far. The people with large numbers of followers tend to be publishers of videos and news.

Our website was free to use from March 2023 to July 2024. Currently it is free to reply to messages sent to you by other members, but initiating contact requires a small annual payment. We do not use automatic or recurring payments. Once your subscription expires you will not be automatically billed again.
